Website Visitors

Like most website operators, Sailor.com.au collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. • If you are an Sailing Expert, we may disclose your personal information including contact details to a Client, but only when such disclosure is in relation to further progressing the application for the Sailing Expert to provide the Consultation to the Client, or otherwise where you have given us permission to make the disclosure to the Client in accordance with this Privacy Policy;

• If you are a Client, we may disclose your personal information including contact details to an Sailing Expert, but only when such disclosure is in relation to further progressing the application for the Sailing Expert to perform the service for the Client, or otherwise where you have given us permission to make the disclosure to the Sailing Expert in accordance with this Privacy Policy;

• establish, maintain and administer your account;

• send you service or promotional communications, including surveys and information about security updates;

• create or distribute marketing material that is relevant to you;

• conduct verifications of profiles, checking credentials, monitoring and reporting as permitted in the terms and conditions you have agreed with us or under any applicable laws;

• quality assurance and training purposes;

• promote and market Sailor.com.au, our services , our websites (including any social media pages maintained or operated by us such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook etc) and/or the Sailing Experts and Clients registered with Sailor.com.au;

• any other uses identified at the time of collecting your personal information.

• Your personal information will also be used by us to enable more direct connectivity between Sailing Experts and Clients, and between Sailing Experts and members of the public, for the purposes of the services. In particular:

• As an Sailing Expert, the visibility of certain personal information included in your professional profile to Clients will depend on the extent to which you have opted in to share your personal information via your account settings.

• As part of the services, Sailor.com.au offers a profile feature that allows portions of an Sailing Expert’s profile to be showcased more widely. Portions of your profile may be displayed on our public website and portions will be indexed and displayed through public search engines such as Google when someone searches for your name, and allow them to click through to your Sailor.com.au profile. You may opt out of this feature entirely in your account settings. If you opt out, you should be aware that third-party search engines may not automatically update their caches, which may contain old public profile information.

 

You consent to us using and disclosing your personal information in any manner that could reasonably be contemplated by this Privacy Policy and our Terms and Conditions.

When we might disclose personal information?

Sailor.com.au may disclose your personal information to other entities or individuals to facilitate the purpose for which information was collected. Such entities and individuals include:

• Our Clients or Sailing Experts, as the case may be;-

• third party service providers for the purpose of enabling them to provide a service such as (but not limited to) payroll, superannuation administration, IT service providers, data storage, web-hosting and server providers, debt collectors;

• any third party partners or entities with whom Sailor.com.au has a commercial relationship;

• any related entity of Sailor.com.au;

• any applicable or relevant regulator or third party for the purpose of legislative or contractual compliance and/or reporting or when Sailor.com.au believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of Sailor.com.au, third parties or the public at large; or

• other entities if you have given your express consent. Those entities and individuals will be permitted to obtain only the personal information necessary to deliver the service. Sailor.com.au takes reasonable steps to ensure that these organisations and individuals are bound by confidentiality and privacy obligations in relation to the protection of your personal information.

From time to time, these parties may reside outside Australia. Our contracts with these parties generally include an obligation for them to comply with Australian privacy law and this Privacy Policy. However you acknowledge that, by agreeing to the disclosure of your personal information to these entities outside of Australia, we will no longer be required to take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient’s compliance with the Australian privacy law in relation to your personal information and we will not be liable to you for any breach of the Australian privacy law by these overseas recipients. If you conduct any transaction that requires a payment by you, some of your details may be provided to a third party payment processor to allow the transaction to be completed.

Certain information will be disclosed to Customers to allow them to determine which Sailing Experts might be suitable. Contact details will only be shared between Customers and Sailing Experts insofar as is necessary or appropriate to facilitate the Services that Sailor.com.au provides to Sailing Experts and customers.

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor's computer, and that the visitor's browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. Sailor.com.au uses cookies to help Sailor.com.au identify and track visitors, their usage of Sailor.com.au website, and their website access preferences. • you acknowledge that we collect your personal information for the purpose of evaluating your application for employment and, should you accept employment with us, the assessment of your continued employment by us and the administration by us of your remuneration and any PAYG obligations.
