YACHT DELIVERY FEES EXPLAINED
Sailor.com.au is a marketplace platform that matches competent skippers and crew with owners. We are the trusted third party that ensures that owners and crew obtain what they expect out of the commercial relationship. We also ensure that quality and reliability is maintained to the highest standards.
PAYMENT FOR DELIVERIES IS BROKEN UP INTO THREE PARTS.

PAYMENT #1 - ON BOOKING
10% of crew fees on booking to reserve our skippers and crew for the scheduled delivery slot. To this amount we also add our estimated expenses for travel to yacht such as flights and ground transport. Cancellation or reschedule of a booking may result in forfeiture of this payment.
PAYMENT #2 - BEFORE DEPARTURE
50% is required at least 7 days before scheduled delivery start. Also iin addition to this we need 100% of estimated expenses for things like fuel, mooring. We provide this estimated amount on our quotation.
We will estimate these costs and the actuals will be adjusted against the final payment once we reconcile other out-of-pocket expenses that may have been incurred.
PAYMENT #3 - AFTER DEPARTURE
The remaining 40% is due before the day of arrival, its best to pay this on departure. These funds are held by sailor.com.au and not released to the delivery team until they complete their duties and obligations. Such as removal or rubbish, cleaning vessel and securing vessel in berth or mooring.
OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES
Delivery crew will make small repairs during delivery as and when required to keep yacht operational, or to stop further damage to yacht. This will be supported by receipts and detailed in the delivery report.
Sometimes with vessels things unavoidably breakdown. Should a major repair be required for example an engine issue, prop or rig for safety reasons where we need to make unscheduled stop if required to do so. Sailor.com.au will organise the payment of the expense on behalf of the owner however the owner will have to organise to pay for these major repairs before they are incurred, otherwise we cannot continue delivery.
All expenses above an agreed amount need to be approved by the owner. Minor expenses are handled as needed.
Where a major repair impedes the progress of the delivery where it cannot be resumed within 2 days either of us have right to terminate the contractual arrangement.

CANCELLATION

The relocation of a vessel can be cancelled at any time until the departure of vessel from origin berth by providing written notice to sailor.com.au. Any monies paid are forfeited and sailors.com.au obligations cease for relocation.

INSURANCE
We have never lost or damaged a vessel, but it is prudent to make sure your yacht is covered by marine insurance.

Sailor.com.au recommends that Owners have appropriate marine insurance for their vessel. Sailor.com.au insurance is secondary to any other relevant marine insurance that the Owner may have. The best marine insurance policies do have provisions for relocation.
Please review any insurance policy that You may have for carefully, and in particular please make sure that You are familiar with and understand any exclusions to, and any deductibles that may apply for, such insurance policy, including, but not limited to, whether or not your insurance policy will cover the relocation of vessel without the Owner being present and in control of vessel.

We check that an appropriate insurance policy for the vessel is current. To keep delivery costs down we will ask that the delivery skipper be added on the policy under “the insured”. This means that the boat, the owner and the skipper are all covered. This is very straight forward on most policies and should just take a phone call or email. Usually there is no extra cost.

When the owner is on board for the delivery, the owner takes ultimate responsibility and our sailing talent compliment and support the owner.
NUMBER OF CREW
For safety and insurance purposes we require a minimum of two competent offshore sailors aboard for overnight passages. On coastal delivery passages we supply a minimum of 2 competent crew and on trans-ocean passages, 4 or more crew depending on the type of sailing vessel.
For coastal passages require that yachts operate 24 hours around the clock. When the delivery skipper is asleep, the other crew member needs to be competent of single-handed sailing. The yacht and crew safety require experienced ocean sailors. As a policy we do not want any crew member on deck alone for any lengthy period of time.

WE AVOID DELIVERIES USING THE ONE PAID SKIPPER, PLUS ONE FREE RANDOM BACKPACKER APPROACH.
INTERNATIONAL ARRIVAL

There are boarder protection processes that a master of a vessel must adhere to when entering country port.
We will ensure that our delivery team comply with these processes and will ensure that we possess the required paperwork and that our sailors have valid visa and passports.
